On a personal note, I just got contacts for the first time recently. Not only was this helping me to see better but it made me aware of my peripheral vision of the world.
I went in for my regular check and for some reason the words "I bet I am not a good candidate for contacts am I." came out of my mouth. My opthamologist said "Actually you are a great candidate. Do you want to try them?" Within a minute I had contacts in my eyes and was walking around the mall. A week later I was given a trial pair to use for a week or so, and voila, I am now a contact wearer.
WHY DIDN'T I DO THIS SOONER? I have the mono lenses which means that one eye sees the distance and the other is used for reading. It takes a while for the brain to not notice what the one eye you don't want to see out of...sees. I've pretty much gotten the hang of it now.
The real liberating fact is that I see ALL around me. The periferal vision is fantastic. When I am with people, I don't have to move my head up and down to get a clear view of everyone. I did not realize how my vision is so much improved.
I can see two ways this has taught me about learning and life. One, I didn't give up because of a little encouragement. The first week or so, I thought these were not for me, because neither the near or far was good, but the middle vision was great. I was ready to go back to glasses, and my doctor said that for some reason the 4 week mark seems to be the magical time when it just clicks in. So I gave it more time. His encouragement and support along the way of made ALL the difference. The point of stopping something or hanging in there is very fragile.
Second, my glasses were giving me a narrow view of the world. I was missing people, things, and views that were in my peripheral vision area and therefore missing the WHOLE view. Do I do that with my decisions? Do I do that with life? I am trying now to look at a lot of aspects before making decisions.
Getting contacts has literally and figuratively changed my view of the world. Are you seeing the world clearly?
Happy learning.

New Granddaughter!
Usually I don't mix personal life with business life, but you know, it all makes up who we are. My youngest son just became a father 2 weeks ago..and of course she is the most beautiful baby...I am just a little biased. Little Lily Margaret is the new love of the family. It reminds me that we all should enjoy EVERY day we have loving and giving to our families. We get so much more than we give. Hope Spring comes soon to enjoy the outside! Happy Learning.

The LinkedIn Workshop was a success. Those who attended gained great knowledge about how to set up a profile, add connections, join groups, and answer questions among many other things. Comments included " Excellent", "Great, Informal, Interactive","Helpful", "Both Harry and Janet were great" I personally want to thank Harry for all of his terrific work on the presentation of the material.
Keep checking in for more workshops of this kind.
Enjoy the cool weather...whenever it comes.

Yep, you don't even have to leave your desk. For more info go to www.andersonpctraining.com and click on the online training link. Have a wonderful fall.

World is getting geeky
Everyday I am learning more about the virtual world to extend knowledge. The Gen Net has no problems with using casual, social, and informal learning to grow and experience new things. A great place to learn more about this is http://www.gettingeeky.com/. Have fun learning.
